Hi, I'm Emma. I've been a teacher for 15 years at a non-selective sixth form college in Stockport. I work in a large department (we teach approximately 350 AS & A2 Law students per year). I'm used to large classes with students of varying abilities. I have taught both AQA & OCR A-level Law and over the years I have also taught A-level Government & Politics, Access to HE Law, Criminology & Politics, GCSE Law and ILEX.
I spend hours making resources for my classes and the rest of the Law department. I must have tried and tested every different style of delivery and assessment. I was lucky enough to secure a publishing contract some years back and I co-wrote revision books and teacher resources for A-level Law. I enjoyed writing the books but became frustrated with the strict format required by the publishers and the limited opportunities to update the books (as I am sure you are aware, the Law changes so often it is hard to keep up!).
Teaching is a hard enough job without having to spend hours producing resources. I have often shared my resources with colleagues I have met over the years at training conferences. I think it is 'daft' for every law teacher around the country to be spending their evenings and weekends making the same resources.
For these reasons (and the fact one of my ex-students is a fantastic web designer) I have spent all year making a full range of workbooks, an on-line case list, tests, Slideshow's, revision mind-maps, iPhone Apps and video clips of me demonstrating teaching ideas for every topic. I've tried to keep the cost down but I think that if you put a price on your time, the price is reasonable. Each workbook is approximately 20 - 30 pages in length and is as detailed as a textbook but with gaps for activities, assessment, group work and revision.
A2 Law resources are coming soon...
Emma
